<dcterms:coverage><![CDATA[As a senior in college, I've never been to spring break before. This is mostly because, as a swimmer for the college, our season gave us little time to see family, so during the spring break, I would go home. UMF's (Ultra Music Festival) position as one of the first major festivals in the electronic music season means that a lot of unreleased music that artists have been waiting to share gets played at this festival. Even though I did not know the lineup of the festival before buying the tickets, based on previous years, I expected it to be loaded. I was right; most of my favorite artists were on the lineup as were some exclusive back to back performances. For these reasons, I was excited to attend, however after the city of Miami announced the cancelation and it was later confirmed by UMF, I knew it wasn't happening. UMF chose not to refund ticket buyers, instead letting us attend in 2021 or 2022 and giving us some other perks. I was disappointed to learn this as tickets are expensive, and since I plan on getting a job after graduating, I don't know what my schedule will be like and if I'll be able to attend. Additionally, I don't think large international gatherings like UMF will be allowed even next year. And even if they are allowed, I don't know if UMF will be able to survive the economic consequences of having to cancel an event only a couple of weeks before it was supposed to be held. For these reasons, I filed a charge-back with my bank, but I am still waiting for a reply.]]></dcterms:coverage>

This image shows the schedule for which students could go back to campus and get all their belongings from their rooms before the campus was shut down. This experience was very different and weird for students, as we are used to being at school until the beginning of May, not the middle of March. It was the start of the transition to the concept of online classes, which was a major change for most students as not a lot of people have used that style of learning for an entire half of a semester. An event like this has never happened before, so it was a weird experience for students to have to return home from school two months early. ]]></dcterms:coverage>

I think it's a great account of the day that we found out we had to leave for spring break. It shows how quickly things turned negative. How fast our lives changed that day, some more than others. This excerpt will help us understand the experiences of students from far out of state that were affected by this. Tyler was still in the U.S. I couldn't imagine what it was like for the people out of the U.S. I think this write up is important because it shows how real this event is. Sometimes we feel a little out of touch when things aren't directly affecting us, but when Tyler went through this it made everything a little more real for me and I wanted to capture that. I want people to notice how uncertain we all were. I know I used that word a lot here but that's the only way I can explain everyone's reaction. <dcterms:coverage><![CDATA[I chose this social media post because it shows how this crisis has impacted every aspect of life, not just for the Springfield College student, but the population in general. It is important to preserve this piece as it mentions social, political, and economic changes, and serves as an encouraging reminder to be grateful and support one another. So much is happening in the world right now with news and information being released everyday, but I found this to be a good quick summary of everything happening at the point in time. It shows the severity of the crisis in a very straightforward way that also gets across the panic and fear that people are living through. This post resonated with me because it suggests that although everyday life has changed so much, it is a struggle everyone can relate to, and it is important to stay connected as a community and check in on each other to bring about positive change in the world. This is the first time most college students are experiencing a global crisis in their lifetime. Despite that, this post shows the leadership and reflection that Springfield College students can provide relating to the bigger picture through a sense of community and connection on social media. ]]></dcterms:coverage>

For many students at Springfield College, this has become the new normal for them which is why it is important to showcase. This picture also shows off what teaching for some professors was like. While not every teacher chose to run their classes with regular zoom meetings most did as it is most likely the closest thing to an in-person class as you can get during the COVID-19. An interesting thing to notice in the picture is the body language of all the students, many are looking away, and some are even in their bed.]]></dcterms:coverage>

<dcterms:coverage><![CDATA[This photo is very different from most photos seen during this time. I'm sure seeing a photo of a large group of people together during this pandemic isn't very common anymore (this photo was taken before social distancing regulations were put in place). However, I chose to use this photo because of the significance behind it. The emotions, thoughts, and feelings of the students at Springfield College during this time is something that can never be captured by a photograph. However, this photo was taken on the last night students were allowed on campus. Earlier that day many sports teams had their seasons cancelled, and the outlook on the rest of the semester was dreary for everyone. We were all on edge, with no idea of what was to come next. But, one last time everyone came together to more or less say their goodbyes, and have a good time with friends. Although there was no official word from Springfield College about moving classes to an online platform, many seniors knew this night was their last night in college. Behind this photo, in the events that cannot be seen, are what make this image so significant to me. Everyone in this group has a different story; every person has their own experiences, had to say their own goodbyes to their friends, or is dealing with their own problems with online classes. However this captures everyone as a community one last time before the loneliness of quarantine set in. ]]></dcterms:coverage>

When hearing about the COVID-19 outbreak and having to social distance, we were saddened that we couldn't hang out like normal anymore (as I imagine most friends were to hear this news). So to follow the social distancing rules, we decided we would FaceTime and do as we would if we were physically hanging out.
